World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this represents the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
