Wythenshawe Veterans Over-35s are located in southern the city and compete in the Cheshire Vets League Premier Tier.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue running.

"The movement is what I'm looking for. It's good fun."

In addition to Cisse's 6 goals on his first game, Stephen Ireland has netted eight in 3 games for the side, while George Boyd hit five on his first appearance and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by trade, notched a hat-trick in one game as a striker.

Wythenshawe are leading of the Top Tier with 3 victories from three and a goal difference of +19.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the flank for Collegiate OB, faced former Latics defender Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his nine-year-old boy who Emile Heskey was.

He has appeared at 2 global tournaments for Honduras, in addition to featuring in over 200 Premier League matches.

"It was spreading like wildfire they had these former top-flight stars," said Barrow.

"I think I was a little awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Also Heskey came on and he's got 60-odd England caps.

"Our side held our own for a good twenty mins but then we had a player dismissed and it was tough.

"We really have not ceased talking about it - I was calling my mother and sibling on the way home.

"They were all friendly, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the return fixture."
